As a teenager, Anita studied with the Austrian painter Josef Dobrowsky, who painted a portrait of her.
Apparently after some still-life painting sessions, Anita and Josef would happily sit down to consume the items they had just painted.
Dobrowsky also painted a portrait of Anita’s brother Mark Bloomfield.
Their father Alexander Bloomfield was a supporter of the arts who encouraged Anita to paint and take lessons with Dobrowsky.
Over at least the period from 1951 to 1956, the family got well-acquainted with Dobrowsky.
The Bloomfields acquired several Dobrowsky paintings during the same period (pictured on this web page, click on the images to see larger versions).
Thankyou for the invitation to the Erie Canal small ceremony. I will however not be able to attend.
I will attend the August 10 event and would like to say a few words about how Anita and I enjoyed the music in RochesterNY together .This was towards the final years of her life in Rochester and she felt that she had Altzeimers. The music at ESM and in the churches along East Ave brought her peace.
