Anita Doherty passed away on December 9, 2013, in Seattle, Washington. She was born on April 17, 1936, in the Free State of Danzig (now Poland), daughter to Alexander and Ruth (Markus) Bloomfield. After growing up in Europe and escaping the Nazi occupation by emigrating to the US, she attended Smith College. She raised her children with ex-husband Richard Doherty in Palo Alto, CA, and Rochester, NY, and most recently lived close to her children in Seattle, WA. Anita was an accomplished painter and was dedicated to supporting the arts. She is survived by her children Daniel, Jennifer, and Stardust (né William); daughter in-law Erika and son-in-law James; grandchildren Abigail, Alexander, Samuel, and Zachary; and her brother Mark Bloomfield and sister-in-law Claudine Sorel Bloomfield, as well as other loving family members and dear friends who will miss her kind and generous spirit.
Memorial celebrations took place August 9-10, 2014, in Rochester, New York. Donations to Young Audiences in Rochester (http://www.yarochester.info/) will be accepted in lieu of flowers.
